Clostridia

Clostridium perfringens is anaerobic but is however a common organism and is found in the excreta of most animals. The spores can survive in most conditions and are found in the environment in soil, dried food products like spices and foods such as raw meat and poultry.
Clostridium perfringens causes the well know condition of gas gangrene which can be life threatening. Therefore where this is suspected rapid and accurate diagnosis is essential.
The presence of other anaerobes or sub-species of Clostridium can complicate the diagnostic process.
We provide a full selection of approved analytical products for the diagnosis of Clostridia. This includes various options for effective enrichment and a range of selective differential agars including the new DCA agar acc. to Weenk which clearly and easily enumerates the Clostridia colonies as black.
