Some of the basic constituents of the culture media are natural products and their properties may therefore vary from batch to batch. In order to obtain reproducible results when cultivating microorganisms these variations must be corrected in certain cases by adjusting the amounts of substances used in the manufacture of the dehydrated culture media. Therefore "typical" compositions of the dehydrated culture media are specified.
