This peptone is obtained by pancreatic
degradation of casein and is used to prepare media for the cultivation of fastidious microorganisms.
It contains negligible amounts of sulfonamide antagonists (p-aminobenzoic acid) and is thus utilized
especially for the preparation of culture media used for testing the sensitivity of infectious
microorganisms towards sulfonamides.
