Malt extract is obtained from malted barley. It is suitable for preparing media used for cultivating yeasts and molds due to the fact that it contains high concentations of various carbohydrates, particularly maltose.


Analysis
Sulfated ash (800°C): £ 3%; loss on drying (105°C): £ 5 ; pH (2% solution): 5-6.
