Mode of Action
Lithium chloride and potassium tellurite inhibit most of the accompanying flora, whereas the remaining components of the culture medium permit satisfying growth of staphylococci.

Preparation

Suspend 43 g/liter, fill into test tubes, autoclave (15 min at
121 °C). Prior to use add 0.1 ml filter-sterilized 1 % potassium tellurite solution to 9 ml of base medium below 45 °C.

pH: 6.6 ± 0.2 at 25 °C.

The prepared culture medium base can be stored in a refrigerator for up to one month. It is clear and yellowish-brown.

Experimental Procedure and Evaluation

According to § 35 LMBG inoculate 1 ml of sample material in
9 ml of culture medium. Incubate up to 48 hours at 35 °C.
