Color Forecast Spring/Summer 2009
Two new color palettes are coming out this season: the fluorescent pastels of Utopia and the very new summer darks of Power Full. Two other continuing color trends are taken one step further: Fab Lab introduces the next generation of nude tones and Turbulence features the high energy of electric hues.
The following four main themes are planned for Spring/Summer 2009:
Utopia
Utopia shows a mysterious, feminine mood, combining fantasy and futurism. The palette of soft neutrals is offset by near-neon pastels. Cosmetics create a supernatural suffused-with-light look that is fresh and feminine.
Fab Lab
Fab Lab reconnects creativity and design, showing an experimental prototype feel. Applied to cosmetics, this mood translates into clay and earthy neutrals with novel textures. It is the next nude look, with a very made-up feel.
Power Full
Power Full is all about mystery, night-lights, discreet gold. Garments and cosmetics come in a rich palette of new summer dark tones. Make-up is highlighted by special effects, or subtly gradated and softly glistening.
Turbulence
Turbulence reflects the continuing drive for a graphic, exuberant, colorful and high-energy everyday feel with a palette of sharp intense colors. For cosmetics, this modern take on color translates into an electric, edgy digital look.
