Oxynex® Product Range
Cosmetic preparations have to remain stable and to look appealing during their complete shelf life. Antioxidants are important ingredients and one type of formulation stabilizer that ensures the stability of the finished product. Chemical deterioration is an auto-oxidative process caused by action of oxygen in air. Antioxidants can inhibit the auto-oxidation process. They are primarily phenolic compounds of a defined chemical constitution. EMD offers a range of different antioxidant mixtures under the Oxynex® brand for optimal stabilization of fats, oils and cosmetic preparations in general.

EMD`s Oxynex® preparations are combinations of antioxidants (tocopherols, butylhydroxytoluene) and synergists (ascorbyl palmitate, citric acid) and as such they display maximum anti-oxidative properties. The most favorable compositions have been determined by extensive tests and their anti-oxidative effect has been proven in practice.
Synergistic compounds increase the efficacy of phenolic antioxidants. Synergists such as ascorbyl palmitate regenerate exhausted antioxidants. The regenerated inhibitor can then intervene again in the reaction process and the action is not reduced until the synergist is completely decomposed.
Other synergists, such as citric acid, form complexes with pro-oxidative metal traces which may be present in fats, thereby inactivating these undesirable auto-oxidation catalysts.
