RonaCare® Ectoin - The Natural Cell Protection Factor
Ectoin is a natural active substance. It was discovered in halophilic bacteria e.g. Ectothiorhodospira halochloris, which survive and grow under extreme conditions in salt lakes, sea water and saline deserts. These halophilic bacteria are exposed to high dose UV-irradiation, dryness, extreme temperatures and high salinity but nevertheless manage to adapt to these inhospitable conditions: a special molecule, namely Ectoin, guarantees their survival. The biopolymers of the bacteria are stabilized by Ectoin and as a result are protected against damaging external stress factors.
This protection concept developed by nature can be applied to cosmetics. Ectoin provides holistic protection to skin cells; acting as a "molecular chaperone" it prevents early cell damage.
Furthermore it has been shown that Ectoin has a positive effect on those skin parameters which are correlated to skin aging. In a clinical trial, RonaCare Ectoin increased both skin hydration and skin elasticity. The skin surface structure was improved (publication available on request).
Last but not least, Ectoin can improve the texture of your formulation thanks to its extraordinary water structuring properties. A cosmetic product containing RonaCare Ectoin feels softer and richer than a comparable product without.
