A cell-permeable, potent anticancer agent that destabilizes microtubules in tumor cells as well as in a cell-free system. Binds directly to tubulin and inhibits polymerization (IC50 = 300 nM). Also blocks cell cycle at G2/M phase, shows efficacy toward multidrug-resistant (MDR) tumor cells, and shows no neurotoxicity.
