In the EcoPro™ T7 System, the extract is supplemented with T7 RNA polymerase, such that protein synthesis is directed from T7 promoters in addition to
E. coli promoters. Optimal translation is achieved using templates that carry a strong prokaryotic ribosome binding site (RBS; e.g. AAGGAG) 6–11 base pairs upstream from the ATG initiation codon. The EcoPro T7 extract contains optimal levels of all components needed for template-dependent transcription and translation, reducing the time and expense of reaction assembly. The EcoPro T7 System can be easily integrated with a variety of non-isotopic detection methods including the
FRETWorks™ S•Tag™ Assay.
