Detects and quantifies the level of GSK-3β (Glycogen synthase kinase-3 beta) protein independent of its phosphorylation state in human, mouse and rat cells. GSK-3β is a non-receptor serine/threonine kinase that is a key modulator of cell fate, neuronal plasticity, and tumorigenesis. It also plays an important role in diabetes, stroke, and Alzheimer's disease via regulation of microtubule stability and phosphorylation of the microtubule associating protein, tau.

 The sensitivity of this ELISA was compared to immunoblotting using known quantities of GSK-3β. The data show that the sensitivity of the ELISA is approximately 2x greater than that of immunoblotting. The bands shown in the immunoblot data were developed using a rabbit anti-GSK-3β antibody and chemiluminescent detection.  Whole cell lysates (200 µg/ml) from Jurkat, 3T3L1, abd L6 cells were analyzed for total GSK-3β using the Detailed Protocol provided. |
